KYN61-40.5 Grid-Connection Standard High-Voltage Switchgear

KYN61-40.5 is a 40.5 kV indoor metal-clad withdrawable switchgear, designed and manufactured in compliance with GB 3906, GB/T 11022, and IEC 62271-200 standards.

The switchgear features four independently segregated compartments: the busbar compartment, circuit breaker truck compartment, cable compartment, and secondary instrument compartment. The enclosure provides IP4X protection, while internal compartments are rated IP2X.

It is equipped as standard with a full mechanical interlocking system (five-prevention interlock) to ensure safe operation. The KYN61-40.5 is widely used in 35 kV substations, renewable energy booster stations, large industrial and mining facilities, and chemical industrial parks for main transformer power distribution applications.

The switchgear can be configured with various domestic and international vacuum circuit breaker trucks, including ZN85, ABB VD4 Vacuum Circuit Breaker, and VEP models.

  • Fully Motorized Intelligent Operation

  • The switchgear is equipped with motorized spring charging for the circuit breaker, motorized racking-in/racking-out of the withdrawable truck, and motorized operation of the earthing switch. Both local control and remote supervisory control are supported for opening and closing operations. Sequential control and automated operating procedures can also be implemented, enabling unattended substations and power stations without on-site operating personnel.

  • Comprehensive Online Condition Monitoring

  • Standard intelligent monitoring functions include wireless temperature monitoring of busbar contacts and cable terminations, online partial discharge (PD) monitoring, and real-time temperature and humidity measurement. The switchgear is equipped with an automatic anti-condensation heating and dehumidification system to maintain optimal internal conditions. In the event of overheating or abnormal partial discharge activity, local audible and visual alarms are activated while alarm data is simultaneously transmitted to the remote monitoring platform.

  • Multi-Protocol Communication and Full SCADA Integration

  • The secondary compartment is pre-equipped with an intelligent protection and control relay, supporting IEC 60870-5-104 (IEC 104), Modbus, and TCP/IP communication protocols. The switchgear can be seamlessly integrated with substation automation systems (SAS), utility dispatching control centers, and energy management systems (EMS) for energy storage applications. It provides complete SCADA functionality, including telemetry, telesignaling, remote control, and remote parameter adjustment.

  • Optional High-Altitude and Wide-Temperature Design

  • An enhanced insulation design with optimized creepage distance is available for installations at elevations of up to 3,000 m above sea level. The switchgear operates reliably within a wide ambient temperature range of –25°C to +45°C, making it suitable for harsh environments such as northwestern desert regions, plateau wind farms, and other locations subject to severe temperature fluctuations.
