Grid-Connection Standard High-Voltage Switchgear
Designed for provincial, municipal, and county-level substations, power grid hub upgrade projects, State Grid and China Southern Power Grid interconnection projects, and 35 kV plant auxiliary power distribution systems. The switchgear offers comprehensive certifications, high short-circuit withstand performance with sufficient safety margins, and compliance with utility grid connection and acceptance standards.
KYN61-40.5 Grid-Connection Standard High-Voltage Switchgear
KYN61-40.5 is a 40.5 kV indoor metal-clad withdrawable switchgear, designed and manufactured in compliance with GB 3906, GB/T 11022, and IEC 62271-200 standards.
The switchgear features four independently segregated compartments: the busbar compartment, circuit breaker truck compartment, cable compartment, and secondary instrument compartment. The enclosure provides IP4X protection, while internal compartments are rated IP2X.
It is equipped as standard with a full mechanical interlocking system (five-prevention interlock) to ensure safe operation. The KYN61-40.5 is widely used in 35 kV substations, renewable energy booster stations, large industrial and mining facilities, and chemical industrial parks for main transformer power distribution applications.
The switchgear can be configured with various domestic and international vacuum circuit breaker trucks, including ZN85, ABB VD4 Vacuum Circuit Breaker, and VEP models.
Advantages & Features
Comprehensive Type-Test Certification
The complete switchgear assembly has successfully passed all major type tests, including temperature-rise, insulation, 31.5 kA/4 s short-time withstand and peak withstand current, internal arc fault, and lightning impulse withstand tests. It is rated for 95 kV (phase-to-earth) / 115 kV (across open contacts) power-frequency withstand voltage for 1 minute, and 185 kV / 215 kV lightning impulse withstand voltage. Each unit undergoes comprehensive factory routine testing, including circuit resistance measurement, power-frequency withstand voltage testing, and interlock function verification. Complete test reports and documentation are provided, facilitating direct submission for utility grid connection approval.
Enhanced Arc-Resistant and Pressure-Relief Design
Each compartment is equipped with an independent pressure-relief flap, while the busbars are fully insulated with reinforced heat-shrink insulation. The design meets 31.5 kA / 1 s internal arc fault containment requirements, ensuring that faults remain confined within the affected panel and do not propagate to adjacent switchgear. This effectively prevents cascading busbar short-circuit incidents and enhances overall system safety.
Fully Integrated Mechanical Five-Prevention Interlocking System
The switchgear incorporates a comprehensive mechanical interlocking scheme covering the circuit breaker truck (with Service, Test, and Isolated positions), earthing switch, and front/rear cabinet doors. The integrated system enforces all five interlocking functions through mandatory mechanical locking, preventing operational errors. All switching operations can be performed with the cabinet doors closed, eliminating opportunities for unauthorized or unsafe operation.
Standardized Primary Circuit Configurations
More than one hundred standardized primary wiring schemes are available, including incoming feeder, main transformer feeder, voltage transformer (PT), bus section, and metering configurations. The switchgear is suitable for both single-busbar and single-busbar sectionalized systems. It can be equipped with the widely adopted ZN85-40.5 vacuum circuit breaker, which is approved for utility applications and supported by a nationwide spare-parts network, ensuring convenient maintenance and parts interchangeability.
